"When understood, the Buddha’s universe..is anything but alien and inhibiting. It is a world full of hope, where everything we need to do can be done and everything that matters is within human reach. It is a world where kindness, unselfishness, non-violence, and compassion achieve what self-interest and arrogance cannot. It is a world where any human can be happy in goodness and the fullness of giving." ❦ Eknath Easwara

Jewish Wisdom - Why Weren't You Yourself?

"On his deathbed Rabbi Zuscha was asked what he thought life beyond the grave would be like.  The old man thought for a long time; then he replied, 'I don't really know.  But one thing I do know: when I get there I am not going to be asked 'Why weren't you Moses?" or 'Why weren't you David?'  I am going to be asked, 'Why weren't you Zuscha?'"
